When looking for flights from Europe to Asia, it is often wise to check a few different routes. This is especially true if you are traveling from a relatively rural area where you will need to fly to a major airport first before your long-haul flight, or if you are looking to save money and do not mind spending some time in a European city such as Frankfurt or Stockholm. Back then I was in London and wanted to be in Asia for New Year, so I booked the flight together with a redemption flight from London to Frankfurt with British Airways (thankfully quite many were available even with short notice). I upgraded the Bamboo flight at the airport with just €450, which made the total cost from Frankfurt to Hanoi to be only £1,230.
