My experience transiting at Manila

I recently (September 2023) took a flight from Manila to Frankfurt which cost me US2,300 on business class return. As I was flying from Hong Kong, I also redeemed flights from Hong Kong to Manila with Cathay Pacific using my British Airways Avios.

I had to say the airport was pretty basic and the service level by airport staff was not superb. However, as I was also a BA Silver member (equivalent to Oneworld Sapphire), I was able to use the Cathay Pacific lounge, which was really an amazing experience and probably the best part of transiting the airport. Unfortunately the lounge closes at 8pm so I had to move and and spend a couple of hours in the PAGSS lounge next door which was slightly less nice. Overall, I still recommend using the airport for the cheaper business flights, especially if your status with Oneworld or Cathay Pacific enables you to use the lounge during its opening hours.
